Getting key stakeholders to think objectively about the business and where it is heading. We can help provide clarity for the big decisions.

When the shareholders or management of a business appoint Argyll Partners to perform a Strategic Review our work will typically cover a number of areas aimed at addressing one or more of the following questions:

  • should I sell my business?

  • how can I increase the value of my business?

  • when should I sell my business?

  • should I grow or close each of the divisions of my business?

  • how can I raise capital to deliver my plans?

  • what should my business plan look like?

 Our work will usually involve:

  • meeting with shareholders and management to understand the objectives of each, their time frame considerations and views of risk;

  • detailed financial analysis to understand the trends in sales and profitability and the key factors behind the performance of the business which relate to the value of the business;

  • analysis of the growth drivers for the business and its relative market position;

  • review of the current funding situation of a business;

  • consideration of the likely success of a sale process for the business and an indication of value; and

  • reporting to the shareholders and management the results of our work giving recommendations on whether a business can be sold, likely value, best timing for a sale, actions to take pre-sale or in the case of fundraising the best funding structure for the business and the nature of the business plan needed to attract funding.

Depending on the output of our work we may then go on to carry out a sale process or work with the business to develop a business plan to maximise future opportunities, developing positive opportunities to increase shareholder value whilst addressing potential negative areas which might affect a sale or fundraising.
